Management Team
The Cervalis management team is a group of professionals with
deep experience and knowledge of data center management, IT operations
and mission-critical service.
Michael Boccardi
President & Chief
Executive Officer
Michael Boccardi is a co- founder of Cervalis and an industry veteran
with more than 20 years of experience leading information technology
and business operations. He has held key positions at The Bank
of New York, DeGeorge Home Alliance, Inc. and The Dreyfus Corporation.
Mr. Boccardi has specialized in developing technology solutions
in dynamic and complex business environments.
Mr. Boccardi was formerly Senior Vice President, Operations and
Chief Information Officer at DeGeorge Home Alliance. While there,
he headed a two-year re-engineering effort that included a redesign
of back-office operations, implementation of a new IT platform
and a major expansion of company facilities. The initiative was
completed in December 1998, as planned, while the company simultaneously
increased sales by over 500%. He also served as President of DeGeorge5599
Corporation, a real-estate holding company.
At The Dreyfus Corporation, Mr. Boccardi led the Retail Systems
division, supporting sales and service initiatives. He was also
responsible for developing and implementing the technology strategy
and infrastructure for research, trading and portfolio management
systems. Previously, Mr. Boccardi designed, constructed and managed
the Dreyfus Corporation data center and distributed operations.
At The Bank of New York, Mr. Boccardi played a key role in the
development and consolidation of two data center operations serving
the mutual fund and corporate trust industries. He was responsible
for data center operations, technical support and quality assurance.
Under his leadership, data center operations were automated, improving

Robert S. Carlson
Vice President, Solution Design and Delivery
Robert S. Carlson, a co-founder of Cervalis, has approximately
20 years of data processing and information technology experience,
most recently as Manager of Internet
Technology at American Skandia. Previously, he was the Vice President,
Information Technology at DeGeorge Home Alliance.
For ten years Mr. Carlson was at The Dreyfus Corporation, where
his responsibilities ranged from managing the Fund Accounting Department's
IT group to managing all system aspects in the Municipal Bond Portfolio

Robert Crespi
Vice President, Chief Information Officer
A Cervalis co-founder, Robert Crespi leads the technical teams
charged with supporting Cervalis internal operations and determines
new technology directions for the company. Mr. Crespi combines
a wide range of technical expertise—including e-commerce,
object oriented design, client/server and networking—with
knowledge of business
analysis, staff training and customer service. His background includes
the areas of financial services, mortgage and real estate, business-to-business
and consumer-to-business.
Prior to joining Cervalis, Mr. Crespi was an independent consultant
affiliated with marchFIRST Cornerstone (formerly known as USWeb/CKS
Cornerstone). He developed e-business solutions for companies such
as OnMoney.com, Prudential Insurance and Citibank. He also served
as technical lead and developer at marchFIRST on Internet projects
for Artnet.com, MicroEdge, Inc. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Advent
Software), and GE Capital.
Previously, Mr. Crespi was Senior Systems Analyst at DeGeorge Home
Alliance, where he led the operations development group. Mr. Crespi
also served as Senior Programmer Analyst at The Dreyfus Corporation,
where he was instrumental in the migration of core legacy applications

Zack Margolis
Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Business Development
Zack Margolis has overall responsibility for corporate and product
marketing, strategic alliances and corporate development. He has
a track record of building and implementing world-class marketing
and sales strategies in high-tech environments, with more than
25 years of experience in strategic planning and corporate development,
sales, marketing and service.
Prior to joining Cervalis, he was Senior Vice President, Marketing
and Operations and Chief Operating Officer at MainControl, Inc.
While there, he was part of team responsible for launching the
company and its products worldwide. The company grew quickly to
become an industry leader.
Mr. Margolis was a founder, President and CEO of Text Systems International,
Inc, a startup launched in 1991 to provide product
and services solutions in electronic publishing. Before that he
spent 17 years with IBM in various technology, sales and marketing
positions, most recently as an executive in IBM corporate and World

Lai Sun
Vice President & Chief
Financial Officer
Lai Sun is responsible for building and managing all aspects of
the company's financial, tax, and legal functions. Prior to joining
Cervalis, Mr. Sun was CFO/Controller at O’Grady-Peyton International,
a healthcare service company in Boston. Previously, he was a tax
manager at KPMG Peat Marwick LLP. Back to top
