Network Security
Cervalis is a leader in network security and plays an active role in developing and implementing security standards. Our center has been certified by Cybertrust, the most exhaustive third-party certification program in the industry.

We employ stringent security and privacy policies based on auditing standards, industry best practices and Cybertrust recommendations. Business rules on TCP and/or UDP ports are strictly enforced, so that access required to perform necessary business functions is restricted. Furthermore, remote access for management purposes is permitted only for authroized individuals through 3DES encrypted VPN sessions.

Power Supply
The Connecticut Center is designed with full N+1 and 2N redundancy. At any time, each component is equipped with multiple power and networking connections. The power design is based on multiple feeds from the utility provider, N+N (2N) Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), N+1 generator backup, and N+1 generator feeds to the building. The facility is designed to support high density power configurations.

The center's highly available electrical infrastructure is built on a tiered system and includes:

• Two separate feeds from the utility company
• Six individual 750KVA UPS systems
• Three 2MW diesel generators
• 5,500 gallons of fuel per generator

Cooling Systems
The facility's cooling systems provide built in redundancies and the highest levels of performance and flexibility. These systems include:

• The ability to support high density power design
• A split air conditoning unit with a room air conditioner and rooftop condenser
• Redundancy in one out of five units, with no sigle point of failure

In addition, the location of computer room units accomodates special cooling requirements and high density cooling techniques as required.

Fire Protection and Suppression
Comprehensive fire protection is supplied by a dry pipe pre-action system that monitors all smoke detectors throughout the building. If smoke detector is activated, the specific location of the incident is displayed on unit monitors located within Cervalis' security command center, network operations center, data center and offsite central station.
