Cervalis Expands and Increases Investment
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – 9/15/2008
Cervalis, a provider of IT infrastructure services, managed
IT services and business continuity solutions for business has expanded its data
center in Wappingers Falls from 90,000 s.f. to 100,000 s.f. This is the most
recent in a series of expansions at Cervalis that began with its announcement in
2001 that it was expanding from its Stamford, Connecticut location and
establishing a 71,000 s.f. Internet Data Center (IDC) on Myers Corners Road in
Wappingers Falls.
During the last two years alone, Cervalis has invested close to $10 million to
enhance its Wappingers Falls facility, and they are poised to invest an additional
$5 million to further enhance the site’s capacity. About the latest expansion in
Dutchess County, Zack Margolis, Vice President, Cervalis LLC, states, “We have expanded
to provide additional datacenter space. We are now at 80 percent capacity.”
According to Margolis, “Companies located in Dutchess County are in a good position to attract
clients, not only from the greater tri-state area but also from locations as far away as California,
Texas, Florida, Louisiana and Illinois.” He adds, “We are very happy with the way that our business
has developed and grown in Dutchess County. Dutchess County is a splendid place for business.
It’s a great quality of life in the region.”
Says Anne N. Conroy, President and CEO of the Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation,
“We are very pleased that Cervalis has decided to make an additional investment in Dutchess
County. Cervalis is a fine example of a leading high-tech company attracted to Dutchess County
by our desirable quality of life; educated, available workforce; and well-established high-tech
industry cluster.”
Cervalis was founded in April 2000 to address the need for managed IT
infrastructure services; services that would provide innovative yet practical solutions
that enable speed-to-market and enhance business resilience.
Cervalis currently employs 45 people at its Wappingers Falls site; the majority
live within 15-20 minutes of the data center. This is particularly important for a
business that expects employees to be on call 24 hours a day. According to Margolis,
Cervalis has had “no problem recruiting excellent talent in the area. There are
excellent schools in the area and excellent companies.”
Cervalis’ clients are using the datacenter facility to run their IT operation.
According to Margolis, “Our clients are enterprise clients of all sizes ranging
from companies that have 50 employees to those with tens of thousands of employees
and more.” Margolis describes these clients as “companies that are growing and
looking for high-availability services in order to protect their IT operations and insure
their continuous operation no matter what occurs.” The corporate slogan for Cervalis expresses
it succinctly: “When downtime is not an option.”
Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation The Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC) is a private, nonprofit organization
