STAMFORD, Conn., March 29, 2004
For the third year in a row,
Cervalis has received the highly demanding TruSecure Service Provider security assurance certification.
TruSecure Corporation is the leading provider of intelligent
risk management products and services, and TruSecure certification
is the de facto standard for secure IT and Internet operations.
Certification is achieved as a result of following a risk
management program of rigorous and continuous testing of the
security
measures employed and the actual level of security achieved.
Receiving this certification further establishes Cervalis
as an industry leader, fully committed to securing its customers'
IT and Disaster Recovery operations.
TruSecure’s Risk
Management Program is an industry-recognized risk reduction
program that addresses all aspects of information
security, ranging from network and system vulnerability analysis
to physical and policy evaluation. The certification tests
are performed regularly, and companies must meet all of the
standards
in the program in order to maintain the TruSecure-backed certification.
Under
the program, Cervalis works with TruSecure to regularly assess
the company’s overall security strategy with regard
to its operations environment. Evaluation procedures are carried
out pursuant to the TruSecure risk assessment and mitigation
methodology, which addresses six categories of risk, including
privacy, electronic threats and vulnerabilities, malicious
code, physical security, human factors, and downtime issues.
"
Earning this certification validates our ongoing efforts
to maintain the highest levels of security for our clients," said
Michael Boccardi, president and CEO of Cervalis. “We
are proud to have earned TruSecure's designation for the
third year in
a row and we will continue to offer our customers state-of-the-art
secure environments that address their IT operations and
business continuity needs."
The goal of the TruSecure
Risk Management Program is to verify and implement effective
security controls at every point
within Cervalis’s network infrastructure, and then
check them on an ongoing basis to ensure they are continuously
met. Evaluation
procedures under the TruSecure program include repeated external
and internal network scanning of the critical devices in
Cervalis’s
network; network configuration reviews; onsite inspections
of Cervalis’s physical environment, including susceptibility
to theft, and Cervalis’s perimeter physical defenses,
such as gates, locks, surveillance devices and alarms; and
reviews
of information security policies and procedures. Throughout
the testing and analysis, TruSecure concluded that Cervalis
has taken
appropriate action to prevent exploitable vulnerabilities.
"Cervalis’s customer focus is on organizations that have
very rigorous requirements for data and network security,” said
Bob Flinton, TruSecure’s director of product management. “TruSecure
certification is a globally recognized validation, providing
organizations a complete framework to continuously identify
and manage risk. The TruSecure Service Provider Certification
confirms
Cervalis’s commitment to its customers and partners
by providing stringent processes to adhere to in order to
maintain
an environment with the highest levels of security and reliability.
Current and prospective customers can have confidence in
the security and reliability of the company's services."
